Building the Future

Our proposal is for a complex of three studio spaces with a total floor space of 10,000 sq ft, with additional single storey support building housing makeup, wardrobe, dressing rooms and reception/breakout area.

The studio floorspace would be divided into Studio One at 5000 sq ft, Studio 2 at 3000 sq ft and Studio 3 at 2000 sq ft respectively, making Studio One the second largest TV studio in Scotland. Each studio would be constructed using the steel portal frame technique on separate concrete pads, with an eves height of 35 ft. The buildings would be finished externally to compliment surrounding developments.

Acoustics: USP#1

Key to our plans and central to our offer are the acoustic qualities of our studios. When discussing acoustic spaces and specifically recording studios, there are essentially two main considerations: Firstly, each studio space must be an acoustically isolated box; Isolated from other structures around it and from the surrounding environment. Secondly, each studio must be an acoustically insulated box; Insulated from external noises and from internal reverberations.

HD Ready Studio Floors: USP#2

Our studios will use the Elgood Studio Floor System as installed in all of the UK’s main production studios including the new studios at BBC PQ. We will be the only Scottish independent studio to use this market leading system.

Saturated Lighting Grids: USP#3

Each of our studios will be fitted with high specification motorised lighting bars – a total of 90 bars across the three spaces. This system is recognised throughout the TV industry as one of the most flexible for lighting television productions and was the solution chosen by BBC PQ for their new studios.
